Tasha Jones is a rare and wonderful artist that strikes a balance in a world so often lopsided. Some people are all style with little to no substance while others have substance with no trace of style. Tasha is a perfect blending of the two. She has the soul of a Nikki Giovanni draped in the haute couture fashions of a runway model, two things few would think to pair. Her work speaks further to her dichotomy, to the easy equilibrium she has found between being a student of life and a teacher of lessons. On stage she tells the story of her life and in doing so tells the story of all women; a story of love, loss and life. She offers a perspective, poignancy and insight in her writing that allows men to see themselves through her work and women to see themselves in her work. She proves herself to be simultaneously what women are and what they aspire to be. In a world where few know who they are Tasha proves that not only does she know who she is but she has a deep understanding of who you are too; And once you’ve experienced her for yourself you will feel better, wiser and more enriched for it.

- Emmy Nominee Jon Goode: TVLand/Nick@Nite, HBO Def Poetry, BET Lyric Café & CNN Black in America.

Indiana's 2008 Poet Laureate Nominee and the youngest nominee in state history, Tasha Jones, the name alone is synonymous with poetry in Indiana and around the country. This prolific writer brilliantly infuses everyday life experiences with scripture to create works that heal and empower. From performing to leading workshops her words and works have impacted millions. The diversity in her writings garner HOPE and include topics such as HIV/AIDS, self esteem, drug addiction, culture and femininity, and juvenile incarceration.

The ardent fervor Jones exemplifies in performances is matched by her commitment to community. She is a front runner in the literacy movement creating The Write Me Project curricula and I MUST READ to lend solutions to the problem. Active with HIV/AIDS education in which, she penned Silent Killer, her first commissioned work that has been used as a training/teaching tool and includes HIV/AIDS activists Magic Johnson and Hydeia Broadbent. As a champion of education Jones’s service and responsibility to the youth is the spark that ignites her flame. Hello Beautiful, an account of Jones’s experiences as an educator in the Indianapolis School System, focuses on the power of words and the impact words have on today's youth and tomorrow's future. Two words, Hello Beautiful revitalized 26 students, redirected momentum, and changed self-destructive/self-sabotaging behavior in the class room and now empowers the world.
